Find it hard to edit your writing to make it easier to understand? Regularly write for a large, diverse audience, and need to make sure your message is phrased in an accessible way? Or do you often have to write up some pretty complex stuff, and need a hand to keep it grounded, so that your readers don’t get lost?

Same. To all those questions.

I’m a content designer, which means I spend my day figuring out how to communicate complex things with people around the world, so that when they use the products I work on, they know exactly what they need to do without any effort. It’s writing for interfaces, and unlike copywriting, which tends to be more creative in an artistic way, it’s about puzzling through dozens of constraints to find the right words and present them in the right way.

Recently, I started putting together a library of prompts that I, as a content designer, find helpful, and to help less confident writers (or indeed non-writers) access my knowledge through prompts, and apply it to their own writing.
